Storrs Pond Opening
Storrs Pond facilities will be opening this Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday, May 29. The tennis courts are open now. Picnic facilities will open on May 23. The pool will be open just as school ends on June 19.
Open Water Wednesdays
Storrs Pond will host a series of 6 open water swims in July and August, each beginning at 5:30pm.
A buoy course will be set up in the pond and swimmers will leave the point and swim around the predetermined course. Each swimmer will be hand timed with results recorded and tabulated at the end of the event. Swimmer results will be ranked according to their age group and maintained throughout the series.
A lifeguard will be on duty and will at their discretion ask any or all swimmers to pass a swim test before allowing participation. As well, the lifeguard, at their discretion may ask any swimmer to leave the water for the safety of themselves and other swimmers. The event organizers and lifeguards reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event without notice in case of inclement weather.
All swimmers must be known by the event organizers to have sufficient swimming ability to participate in the events and must sign a waiver of liability before entering the water.
All swimmers must wear a self-provided and brightly-colored bathing cap: Yellow, Red, Lime Green, Blaze Orange, Bright Pink

Stoaked Triathlon
On August 8th and 9th, Storrs Pond was proud to host the Xterra Stoaked Offroad Triathlon.
On Saturday, about 75 people competed in the standard race. They started from the main beach with a 0.5 mile swim to the Tom Byrne Pavilion Beach, then an 8.5 km bike ride on the Oak Hill trails. They ended with a 3.5 km trail run around Storrs Pond.
On Sunday, just over 100 people competed in the Xterra race, starting with a 1 km swim from the main beach, then a 17 km trail ride, and 7 km trail run.
